Alice Sainsbury is a design consultant, coach and advocate, partnering with global brands and communities to cultivate space for the inclusion of every-body.
Background
Combining outdoor apparel design experience with the lived experience of visible and invisible disabilities, Alice’s work supports vital shifts in cultural attitudes of the body and its deep interconnection with the natural world.
“In 2015 my life was up-ended by neurological disease causing lifelong incomplete spinal cord injury. This experience founded a need for conversation and connection in a society conditioned by ableist, dogmatic narratives, prompting new paths of work questioning ‘what happens when we are not well and existing narratives no longer serve us?’”
Human, holistic, nature-led
Through her multidisciplinary work, Alice cultivates new narratives that interweave sustainability and inclusivity as inseparable parts of a one whole. Her symbiotic approach places people, ecology, and accessibility at the forefront of contemporary ecosystems – embodying cycles of growth, balance and reciprocity.
“Just as ecosystems support diverse lifeforms and adapt to sustain themselves, we need to prioritise authentic collaboration and interconnected, regenerative approaches within inner and outer cultures for genuine societal progress.”
From adaptive design to community advocacy, university lecturing to inclusive pilgrimages and retreats, Alice’s work opens pathways of connection for every-body, advocating for increasingly accessible and inclusive apparel, environments and experiences for all.
